middle aged...

Hey folks. I'm a bit down today. Yesterday I had a birthday... my 6th. So that's it. I'm officially middle aged. Mama didn't make too much of a scene, but she did keep reminding me all day, and she laughed right in my face and said "half way there" with such glee. And she laughed at my pimple. Yep, I'm middle aged and I still have pimples. What's up with that?
So what's so bad about being middle aged? Well, what have I achieved so far in my life? I have never had a real relationship with a boy dog, I don't have any puppies to love me, and in fact I don't think I will have any puppies, and I don't even have a career. Most people think I'm completely worthless. I try to keep my people happy and warm, but I have to admit that I'm really a self centred pug. I am addicted to the world of sense pleasures (belly rubs especially). I can't even meditate without falling asleep. I don't know how to be a better pug, and I think it's going to be all downhill from here.
I criticize the Bubbles, but in truth I pity her. She has known many other dogs, and has had countless pug puppies. But her breeders stole them all and sold them for a profit. How cruel is that? And then they tossed her aside, and left her endlessly looking for her babies, grooming anyone who sits within reach. I don't think she'll ever be happy.
This life is full of suffering for us. I've been throwing a pity party for myself, but I shouldn't be so shallow. There are many dogs out there who have it worse than me. I will count my blessings.
